It was a very hot day in Dallas and the botanical gardens were the perfect respite and stress reliever. The lake views are so calming. The gardens are neatly organized with clever plant pairings. There were some beautiful oversized dark alocasia that I honestly wanted to steal despite the impractically of such an endeavor. A plant lover can find something to marvel at every turn.
Beautiful gardens, even in the heat of summertime. Very friendly staff and I enjoyed the two home tours on the property.
This is among the handful of my favorite places in Dallas. Definitely give it a visit if you love nature and plants and trees and beauty!
Update they fix the issue, still slightly disappointed about the process and how everything was handled, but I have my money refunded and still have my membership. Hopefully this doesn't happen again. Speaking to a representative on the phone did not help but the survey that was emailed did. Save your money and go to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden instead. I have been a loyal Dallas Arboretum member for over 10 years, but this place has gone completely downhill and turned into a redundant money grab. Every year it is the exact same events with no unique value.I recently paid an extra $20 for the "Twilight" evening event, which was an absolute waste. You are paying extra to see the exact same exhibits you can see for free during the day. It is still brutally hot, it doesn't get dark until 8:30 PM, and they close at 9:00 PM. Worse, there was zero security or staff at the gates—anyone could have just walked in for free. When I complained about the lack of staff and value, customer service refused a refund or a membership cancellation, only offering tickets to come back to the same terrible exhibit. The quality is gone—even their famous tulips were dead this year (they blamed the weather, but the tulips in my own yard did just fine). Save your money. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is vastly superior, larger, offers better events (like the butterfly exhibit and Christmas lights), allows dogs on select days, has a better Japanese garden, and features reciprocal entry anyway. READ THE REAL REVIEWS THE ONES WITH THE LOWER RATINGS IT WILL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING I AM POSTING. I DID NOT TALK ABOUT PARKING THAT IS ANOTHER ISSUE.
Beautiful place...too hot in the summer...until you find the splash pad, and then all is well.
