David Sharma

David Sharma · Dhol, Tabla & Drum Set · Houston, TX

When it comes to South Asian percussion, few names in Houston — or anywhere in the US — carry the weight that David Sharma does. A world-class percussionist, Ableton Certified Trainer, award-winning educator, and producer, David Sharma is the rare artist who has played the world's most prestigious stages and still brings that same extraordinary level of mastery to your wedding celebration.

The resume speaks for itself. David has performed at Wembley with Moby, played dhol at Madison Square Garden, served as a featured soloist with the Chicago Sinfonietta, and was one of only two on-stage percussionists for the Broadway and national tour of A.R. Rahman and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bombay Dreams. He has also performed at Coachella, played the Montreal Jazz Festival, and appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. This is not a local weekend performer — this is a globally seasoned artist who has graced the world's biggest stages, and now he's available for your event.

David plays dhol, tabla, and drum set, bringing versatility and cultural depth that most percussionists simply cannot match. Whether it's the thundering beats of a baraat entrance, the celebratory rhythms of a mehndi, or a high-energy reception performance, David's playing doesn't just accompany your celebration — it elevates it into something truly unforgettable. Clients who have booked him consistently describe being in awe of his mastery from the very first beat.

Beyond performance, David is also a respected educator who has lectured at Columbia University, Dartmouth College, NYU, and Ohio State — a testament to the depth and breadth of his musical knowledge. When he steps onto your event floor, you're not just getting a dhol player. You're getting one of the most complete percussionists in the country.
